The Seattle area 2009 Human Rights Day Planning Committee is asking for your help in nominating individuals or organizations for the City of Seattle's Distinguished Citizen Award for Human Rights.
This honor will be awarded at the 14th annual Human Rights Day celebration on Thursday, Dec. 10.
The Committee seeks to recognize a local human rights advocate rather than a national or international figure. Past award recipients have included Michael Neguse, Northwest Immigrants Rights Project, the Tronie Foundation, Casa Latina, Paulina Lopez, Magdaleno Rose-Avila, Trans Jail Policy Group, Somali Community Services of Seattle, YWCA Girls First, and the Wing Luke Asian Museum.
