Today, the Congressional Black Caucus PAC (CBC PAC) announced its endorsement of Loretta Smith – longtime aide to U.S. Senator Ron Wyden, two-term County Commissioner, and Democratic candidate for Congress – in the primary for Oregon’s 6th District.

If elected, Loretta will be the state’s first Black member of Congress. CBCPAC joins Collective, Higher Heights, and trusted leaders from the district and beyond supporting Loretta’s action-oriented campaign focused on getting results for the people.

Congressional Black Caucus PAC Chairman Rep. Gregory Meeks released the following statement Wednesday:

“Loretta Smith is a proven champion for the voiceless and has the experience, values, and drive to serve Oregon well in Congress. Throughout her many years in public service as both an elected official and staffer, she has broken barriers and never lost sight of what matters most as she fights for and delivers for the people, especially the vulnerable and historically marginalized. The CBCPAC is proud to endorse her campaign.”

Loretta Smith released the following statement:

“I’m honored to have the Congressional Black Caucus by our side in this race as we fight for the future of our communities and ensure not a single Oregonian is left behind. While Republican politicians attack our most fundamental rights, including reproductive health and voting rights, and out-of-state billionaires are spending dark money to elect someone who will pay attention to them, we are laser focused on protecting those rights, lowering costs for families, and improving the daily lives of hardworking people of Oregon. This moment calls for leaders willing to take on the tough fights to get results – that’s how I’ve gotten things done throughout my career, and I’ll take that same fight to Congress.”
